the hierarchy of universal beings
The Universe is held together by a balance of Light and Darkness, order and chaos. Every being—whether god, demon, angel, or mortal—has its place in that order. From the Rulers who command the aetheris to the humans who walk the earth, each tier of the hierarchy plays a role in shaping destiny.
Though power diminishes as the hierarchy descends, no rank is without meaning. Aelevans influence the desires of others, gods and demons wield immense strength within their realms, angels are bound by laws of selflessness, and mortals embody both Light and Darkness in fragile vessels. Together, these layers form the framework of existence—an eternal structure where balance is constantly tested, and even the smallest shift can ripple across all realms.

the rulers of the universe
The most powerful beings in all of existence, Rulers embody and maintain balance within The Universe. Each one is tied to an aetheris—something essential or inherently existent, such as Time, Love, Natural Law, or Greed. They reside in the Fifth Realm, rarely interacting with mortals directly, but their influence is everywhere.
Examples: The Ruler of Natural Law, the Ruler of Time

aelevans & children of the aelevans
Aelevans are the living embodiment of an aetheris—manifestations of concepts like Desire, Fear, or Water. They are not gods, nor Rulers, but persuasive entities capable of bending others through their domain. While they may create offspring, those children will never be pure Aelevan. Instead, their unions with gods, demons, or angels give rise to mixed-blood beings of great power, but slightly lesser standing.
Examples: Aelevan of Greed, Aelevan of Desire. Children might include hybrids with divine, demonic, or angelic traits

gods
Accessible to mortals but far less enigmatic than Rulers, gods are tied to specific aetheris and embody its powers. Their strength is immense, but their domain limits them—they cannot step beyond the boundaries of what they represent. A god of Love, for instance, can heal, bind, or manipulate through love, but cannot command fear or death.
Examples: God of Love, God of War, God of the Sea

demons & angels
Two sides of the same coin, both born of opposing forces.
Demons are born of The Darkness—a balance that is not inherently evil but often feared. Many demons embrace corruption, but some resist.
Angels are born of The Light, equally not inherently good. Angels are bound by strict laws, the highest of which is “Other before self.” To break this law risks a Fall.
Examples: Archdemons, Fallen Angels, Seraphim

demi-demons, demi-gods, & demi-angels
The children of higher beings and mortals—or mixed unions between Light and Darkness—are demi-beings. Though diluted, they carry immense strength, often surpassing mortal limits.
Demi-Gods: Most powerful of the demi-tier, able to wield aspects of divinity.
Demi-Demons: Half-demon, half-mortal (or other), caught between temptation and humanity.
Demi-Angels: Blessed with angelic qualities but never considered truly “pure.”
Examples: Hercules (demi-god archetype), part-demon warriors, seers with angelic blood

sub-demons, magic, & sub-angels
This tier covers those tied to supernatural power but limited by species or bloodline.
Sub-Demons: Lowest ranking demons, bound to dark instincts and powers specific to their kind.
Magic: Independent creatures such as witches, fae, and merfolk who draw on elemental or arcane forces. Neither Light nor Darkness defines them—they choose their path.
Sub-Angelic: Prophets, mediums, or minor celestial messengers whose Light-born gifts are modest.
Examples: Vampires (sub-demon), witches and fae (magic), prophets and visionaries (sub-angelic)

non-magic, mortals
At the lowest tier stand humans and other mortal races. Though seemingly powerless compared to those above, mortals carry the unique blend of Light and Darkness in fragile vessels. Some are touched by divinity, carrying faint traces of higher bloodlines. Among them are rare groups like the Daelish, who were gifted Ruler status despite their otherwise mortal nature.
Examples: Humans, Daelish, other non-magical mortals
